Selecting and understanding the game

Selecting the game

On my first post, I've mentioned that I want to write code for an AI that can compete with other AI's on online games. At the moment, there are 7 games on  theaigames.com and I have to select a game to play with:

- Go, Tic Tac Toe, Four in a row, AI block battle, Texas hold'em, Warlight AI challange and Heads up Omaha

As a matter of fact, to me Warlight AI challenge is the most exciting one since it is almost the same as risk, and there are a lot of different aspects that adds uncertainty to the game. Both players do their moves almost concurrently and the fog of war, makes it impossible to be sure about the zones that is not in the neighborhood.

However, experience says to start with a simple game first and then go to a hard game to compete. First I need to understand how the game engine works and the time limit is something that I really like to consider as a starter. So why not starting with 4 in a raw? :)
It is one of the simplest games that is easy to implement and understand.

Game Rules
The game is pretty simple. It is turn based and there is only 2 players: you and your opponent. There is a set of vertical columns and each player has some marbles. The first player who can put 4 of his marbles in a same row, column or diagonal wins.
That's all. easy right?

How to start
There is already some starter kits for C#, Java, Rust and even Pascal available in the get started page.
Download the one that matches the language which suites you and get started. It contains a simple solution which gives random answers to the system, but it is good since you don't need to worry about interactions with the game hub. You just need to write the part that decides on what orders your bot has to give in order to win. :)

First My Story!

I've been obsessed with video games since I was 9 years old. Since then, I've spend hours and hours playing video games on my PC while I realized that I love strategic games while I've only played the other to compete with others. Years past and I went to university, studied Software engineering and at the same time won some prized in Strategic games in Iran and have some good ranking on online massive multi player strategic games. Today, is almost 8 years from my last serious games, I cannot play games like before anymore because I have a life to support and when I play more than an hour I feel like I am wasting my life.

I am missing the energy, the desire to conquer, to win. I want to have fun and kick some ass while improving my self and the world! Really hard to achieve right?
But I've found this website today:

And I am going to write a bot to compete with other people! In strategic games! This is awesome! :) :)
